When possible, I try not to pay full price on my purchases. I tend to wait for air fare sales and travel deals. I usually only purchase clothes for me and my kids when they are on sale. And more recently, I’ve challenged myself to find ways to save money on school lunches as well. So here I share some ways I stretch our dollars to be able to provide my kids with healthy school lunches.

Save Money on School Lunches
1. Make a Supermarket List
The first step to getting great savings is to purchase wisely. I always make a list of items to buy in the supermarket before I even step foot in it. If I stick to my list, then I stick to my budget as well. This eliminates the urge to make impulse purchases.
2. Supermarket Deals and Coupons
Before heading to the supermarket, I look at their catalogues online to scan through the week’s deals, specials and coupons. I then plan my entire week’s menu, including kids school lunches, around these discounted items.
3. Buy in Bulk
Buying in bulk offers massive savings. If I buy things like ham and cheese in bulk, I remove them from its original packaging and put them into well sealed containers such as this one I found on Groupon Goods.
4. Portion Snacks at Home
Another way to save money on school lunches is to portion those items you’ve bought in bulk on your own. For example, instead of buying cheese and biscuit snack packs, I purchase a big pack of crackers and a big pack of cheese slices. I then put however much my kids need into their lunch boxes. I find that lunch boxes with compartments are excellent for this purpose. These Bentgo Kids’ Lunch Boxes found on Groupon Goods are particularly great because each compartment is well sealed.
5. Dinner Leftovers for School Lunch
To avoid giving my kids the usual ham and cheese sandwich for school lunch, I try to make big batches of meals for dinner. The leftovers are then taken for the next day’s school lunch. I can only do this with a good insulated lunch box that contains seal tight containers to prevent spills. I found this Bentgo Lunchbox Set on Groupon Goods. It not only serves the purpose, but I just love the massive discounts – 62% discount on this lunchbox set!
Head on to Groupon Goods for great food storage and lunch box deals! I love finding deals on Groupon Goods, simply because I don’t like paying full price on anything. It’s great value for money and the discounts are massive. So I save money on school lunches, but I also save money on food storage containers and lunch boxes. Isn’t that great?! 🙂
