Kids don’t always have to use paint brushes to create beautiful artwork. There are many media that can be used and each of them create different effects. So today we are exploring Pulled String Painting. This is an easy and sometimes messy art activity. It’s great for kids’ hand control and coordination. And it’s a lot of fun as well. Kids will surely love it, just as they’ve loved all the other art activities for kids we’ve done in the past.
Pulled String Painting
What you need to make pulled string painting:
- Paper or canvas
- Yarn or string
- Paint
- Paint cups or any small container
How to make pulled spring painting artwork:
- Fill paint cups with paint.
- Coat the yarn or string with paint by dipping it into a paint cup.
- Lay the string anywhere on the paper or canvas. Then drag, swirl, wiggle the string all around to create your artwork.
It’s as simple and as fun as that! Let the kids use long strings and short strings. Let them create circular designs and swirls, or quick swooshes to create thin lines. Fold the paper in half and pull the string in any direction. Half the fun is in the process, so experiment, explore and go with the flow.
Will your kids enjoy this pulled string painting technique? We’d love to see what the kids come up with so feel free to share your artwork with us on the Kidz Activities Facebook page.
