Easter is a time when we Christians celebrate New Life. It’s when we remember the day when Jesus overpowered death in his resurrection. But do your young kids really know this? Admittedly, it’s so easy for kids to get caught up in the excitement of Easter eggs, chocolates and the Easter bunny, without knowing the true meaning of Easter. So here is a list of Easter Stories for Kindergarten, which will make great kids reading for the Easter season.
All of these books mention Jesus and parts, if not all the parts, of the Easter story. Some talk about the actual biblical events. Some use cute characters, like bears, to tell the Easter story. Most of these books are perfect for kindergarten age kids. But they are great parent read story books for younger kids as well.
Easter Stories for Kindergarten
The Easter Story (Usborne Bible Tales) by Heather Amery
This book tells the events of the Easter story from Palm Sunday all the way up to the Resurrection in a clear and concise way. The illustration is adorable and not frightening. A perfect book for Kindergarten kids to read. But it will also be enjoyed by younger kids when read by parents.
The Week That Led to Easter – Arch Books
This book talks about the events from Palm Sunday and leading up to Easter in a non frightening way. It covers all major events concisely and clearly. Perfect for preschool kids till the age of 9.
The Story of the Empty Tomb – Arch Books
Another one from the Arch books series, this book tells the story of the empty tomb in beautiful poetry and rhyme. Perfect for kids ages 5-9. Arch books is also reviewed to provide biblically accurate details in their books.
The Berenstain Bears and the Easter Story (Berenstain Bears/Living Lights)
This book starts of with the Berenstain bear cubs having a lot of candy during Easter. But then it goes on to explaining the real story of Easter through the adorable Berenstain bears illustrations. It also has a sticker page. Perfect for kids ages 4-7.
Little Cub asks why we celebrate Easter. And Papa Bear lovingly explains how “God loved us so much he wanted us to always be with him too. That’s why God knew he’d need to give us Easter.” Papa Bear uses an Easter egg, an uprooted tree, and evidence of new life in a pinecone to tell the Easter story. Beautiful illustrations and perfect for kids ages 3-7.
