We have been learning numbers, particularly number sequencing from 1 to 10. So we created an Apple Counting Craft for Preschool Kids. This is a simple counting activity that you can use to encourage play based learning. And if your child prefers to stick the buttons on permanently, the result is a cute apple tree craft. At Kidz Activities, we love making crafts that encourage kids to learn at the same time. Visit our crafts for preschool page for more crafty learning inspiration.
Apple Counting Craft for Preschool
There are only 2 things you need for this Apple Counting Craft:
- Free Printable Apple Counting Craft by Kidz Activities
- Red Buttons, preferably in varying sizes and designs
Print the Apple Counting Craft Printable by Kidz Activities by clicking on the link above.
Ask your child to put a button on each number, starting with the number 1 and ending in the number 10. This activity exercises the child’s ability to recognize numbers, count from 1-10 and sequence them accordingly. It also improves fine motor skills and hand-eye coordination.
If you laminate the Apple Counting Craft printable (or put it in a plastic sleeve like I did in the photo above), your child can practice counting repeatedly using this apple tree. You don’t have to limit your child to using buttons. You can use gummy bears, M&Ms and maybe even mini marshmallows. Or if your child loves playdough, encourage him/her to roll red playdough in a small ball. Then put these on top of the numbers instead of buttons. If you’re out of playdough, here is a playdough recipe in autumn colors that you can easily do at home.
If your child wants to put the red buttons on permanently, glue them on. My kids and I prefer using Washable PVA Glue. The end result is a beautiful apple tree craft that’s pretty enough to frame.
